Joyce - My 5th Continuity

I met Joyce at a massage place that also does manicures/pedicures. A friend of Joyce's was doing my nails, and when she found out I am a midwife, she called Joyce over and introduced us. It was already in June, and I had a continuity due already in August when she was to deliver.

But... I just can't say no :) I took her, and I have been glad for it. She is so sweet, and I love spending time with her. Her boyfriend was great. He had no problems hold his little boy, named Ezekiel John, but if I had to do a fundus rub (which is painful) he would turn away because he couldn't stand seeing Joyce in pain.

They just came in for a one week check up, and it was so funny because I said I was going to take Ezekiel's umbilical cord clamp off since the cord was dry. He thought I was going to cut the umbilical cord out of the poor sleeping baby, and started to walk out of the room! I quickly assured him that I was going to do no such thing, and that the baby wouldn't even feel it. In fact, he didn't even wake up.

It was a beautiful birth, and they are a beautiful family. I am privilaged to be their midwife and friend.
