DOH Update and an apology...

What is the apology bit for some may ask? It is for having a few people contact me and ask for an update concerning the the DOH (department of health) who came and used a fine toothed comb to examine our clinic and our staff. My life has been a little on the crazy side, what with trying to get my assignment done and working extra shifts so that I am free when my dad comes. P.S. That is tomorrow na!!!! Yikes, this is absolutely amazing. See picture of my handsome daddy to the left :)

Some has happened since last updating, but it is still quite confusing, because we don't officially have the green light to continue practicing like we had been (i.e. allowing the missionary midwives to insert I.V's and suture etc), so we still tend to come onto shift and find out only then what we will be able to do and what we won't.

Last night, we had a team meeting and one of the questions asked was an update on what we are and aren't allowed to do, and the answer was still vague because we don't want anything incriminating written down just in case the DOH comes back with more demands from us. We want to be as cooperative as possible to allow us white people to stay at Mercy, because without the manpower and finances that we help to provide, it would be very difficult for the clinic to continue.

As far as we know, the Dr. who has been conducting the inspection was thoroughly impressed by our clinic and staff and our willingness to comply with her requests on her last check, so as far as we know, she did submit a good report on us which is a big step in the right direction.

Now, we sill need prayer for:
1. Favor with the director of the DOH who will be reading the doctor's report on Mercy.
2. The Board of Education to say one more time to the DOH that us white volunteers are not students so that we will not be under strict rules that apply to people being trained for national licenses. We do coursework but it is a US based program that is not our main focus.
3. Patience for those of us who are chomping at the bit to really have opportunities to practice IV insertion and suturing (like me) while I still have the opportunity. I really need to get a good handle on these skills what with my plans to work in remote areas in the mission field.

Ok. So that's enough for now. I hope this will tide you guys over for a little bit because with my dad arriving tomorrow, I have no idea when I will be able to blog next :)

How is your time with you dad, I betcha you are having a blast! When is your mom coming? I despise inspections and remember when we had them done in the Bethany kitchen and we had to walk on eggshells for a while. I know an alumni from Bethany that are pregant and want to see if I can beat you to it but realize I should prob email that to you. Sorry I didn't tell you that I started bloggin but really I didn't tell anyone but just commented on Cari's so thats how she found out about mine I am horrible about doing those mass emails to inform everyone ya know. I love you!!

Jenny,

I just tried emailing you but it didn't go through for some reason. Is your email on your site your current one?

I hope you are well and having fun with your dad. Say hi to him if he is still there for me!

Love,
Shari
